So I’ve found that these 12-screenshot formatted posts works pretty well for Tales of the Abyss. Sure, I miss out on some of the glitzy stuff I might’ve captured before, but overall it gets the point across. Quite frankly, it’s difficult to carve out some time to do this these days, so this cuts down on my writing and formatting significantly. Plus, my memory is getting fuzzy O_o;;
Anyway, it’s off to the ridiculously tall tower that all Tales of games seem to have. Luke is off to be the martyr…again. Overall, decently executed, but it’s one of those ‘ho hum’ episodes that really doesn’t bring much to the table.

Another two-episode recap of Tales of the Abyss. Gotta say, Episode 20 was kind of depressing…but then they follow it up with a fat lot of NOTHING in 21. Only 4 more episodes to go after this, and it still feels like the story is moving at a snail’s pace. Really odd, considering they’re warping between continents most of the time. I guess I’ll reserve final judgment when all is said and done.

Four ‘episodes’ in, and we finally see Shiki as she figures out how to use her Mystic Eyes for the first time. Screenshots won’t do this movie any justice, as some of the CG work was simply amazing. Anyway, here is a movie that almost begins in Evangelion territory (by that, I mean that it was almost beyond cryptic in its imagery and discussion), but ends with quite the bang. I’m still of the crowd that, with its gripping and though-provoking story and combined with some ridiculous graphics, Kara no Kyoukai movies will live on as one of the best animated movies of the decade.

When I watched this episode, the first thing that popped into my head was “oh wow, you’d have to be BLIND not to see this ending coming”. It honestly seemed primed for yet another failed attempt to pique my interest, and you know what? I saw the ending coming, and enjoyed it anyway. This may seem a bit odd, I know, but the final part was the clincher for me, regardless of the painfully transparent happenings that are occurring throughout the episode. Had a real Lola Rennt -esque feel to it all (thankfully, though, they don’t go through the entire thing three times before deciding ‘okay move on now’.)

YAY MORE HIGURASHI! And it’s a fun chapter too! I believe it’s from a light novel that came boxed with Higurashi Matsuri, but someone correct me if I’m wrong. Anyway, almost every gets an appearance in this one, and it’s quite a laugher. Enjoy the fun! [Mind you, this has been written at like 1 AM, so I could be a wee bit off on my translations…I’m tired.]
Go past the jump for some semi-gravure images of the four main girls, courtesy of this OVA, too. Yes, consider that my ‘lure’.
